Mississippi State has added another football game to their future schedule, tentatively completing their non-conference schedule. The Bulldogs will play the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks as part of their 2026 non-conference schedule.

Mississippi State adding to schedule

“Mississippi State will host ULM at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026,” according to FBSchedules.com. “The Bulldogs will pay the Warhawks a $1.45 million guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.”

Although it’s some time still before they meet on the field, Mississippi State and ULM will meet for the seventh time in school history in 2026. The Bulldogs lead the overall series with a record of 4-1-1, with their most recent matchups ending in Mississippi State’s favor. The programs first played each other in 1972, but haven’t met since 1997.

By adding ULM to their 2026 schedule, Mississippi State has completed their non-conference schedule for the next four seasons. Currently, the Bulldogs will play ULM in the opening game of the season before travelling to Minnesota to play the Golden Gophers. They would then return home to play Troy before beginning conference play. Their final non-conference opponent would be Tennessee Tech on Nov. 21.

The Bulldogs found mixed success with non-conference opponents in 2021, taking advantage of a big win over NC State and the ACC to start the season. However, the following week saw them fall to Memphis from the AAC, a big loss heading into SEC play.

Mississippi State quarterback enters transfer portal

Mississippi State quarterback Jack Abraham entered the transfer portal last week. Abraham transferred to Mississippi State this season after three years at Southern Miss. He didn’t play a game after suffering a concussion and facial laceration during a “freak accident” over the summer.

During his three years at Southern Miss, Abraham completed 69.3% of his passes for 7,067 yards and 41 yards. Now, he’s transferring for the second time in his career.

He arrived at Southern Miss as a three-star recruit and the No. 29 recruit in the state of Mississippi, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
