New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine offensive lineman Cam East has decommitted from Mississippi State, he announced Friday evening.

East is the No. 521 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 32 offensive tackle and the No. 28 prospect in Mississippi.

“After hard thinking and long talks with my family, I have decided to open my recruitment back up and de-commit from Mississippi State University,” East wrote on Twitter. “Huge thank you to the MSU coaching staff and players for all the hospitality and love they have shown me through this recruiting process!”

East committed to the Bulldogs in June over offers from Arkansas, Virginia, TCU, Texas Tech and others. He took official visits to TCU and Arkansas over the summer, as well as one to Mississippi State in September. However, he visited Ole Miss on Nov. 5 and also hosted Rebels’ coach Lane Kiffin for an in-home visit last Sunday.

East told On3’s Chad Simmons in October that he had built a strong relationship with the Rebels.

“Since Ole Miss offered, we have been talking a lot,” East said. “It is every day that I talk with coach Jake Thornton  and we have built a good relationship.”

Cam East is expected to wait until February to sign, and he’s also hearing from Louisville and Georgia Tech.
