Jonesboro (Ga.) Mundy’s Mill three-star linebacker Joshua Ofor has committed to NC State.

He chose the Wolfpack over the likes of Ole Miss, Maryland and Tulane.

Ofor is the No. 863 overall prospect and No. 80 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Ofor as the No. 66 LB and No. 78 player in Georgia.

Relationships, official visit helped NC State seal the deal for Ofor

The linebacker visited NC State for the first time during the Alpha Wolf Showcase and quickly set his official visit afterwards. That weekend in Raleigh helped play a role in his decision.

“It was getting to know all of the coaches, actually getting to talk with them and be with them for the whole time,” Ofor said after the visit. “That’s really what helped it all out.”

NC State offered Ofor over the summer. He took an unofficial visit at the end of July, then took an official on a game visit on Sept. 8. Defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, the linebacker’s primary recruiter, made him a priority over the past few months.

Kelvon McBride hosted him that weekend, and Ofor said he saw some similarities between him and the Wolfpack freshman linebacker. Overall, he meshed well with his potential future teammates. During the official, he also toured the facility and experienced his first Carter-Finley Stadium game day.

“McBride is a really laid back, chill guy,” Ofor told The Wolfpacker. “And with the other linebackers, they’re all cool.”

“It was nice, real nice,” he added of the game day experience. “Even though we didn’t get to do the walk of champions, it was still nice regardless. I still had a great time watching the game, just watching the defense fly around, play hard and have fun.”

Ofor is NC State’s third linebacker commit of the 2024 cycle, joining three-star prospects Zane Williams and Cannon Lewis, and the No. 19 member of the class overall. He plans on enrolling early in January and majoring in either human biology or business administration.

Ofor does not have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
