Daemon Fagan couldn’t hold off any longer.

When he left Raleigh after his official visit to NC State a few weeks ago, he was ready to join the Wolfpack. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound four-star safety out of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage has committed to NC State over Miami and Ohio State.

“There is a lot I like about NC State,” Fagan told On3. “The coaches are men of their word, they are the most genuine people that recruited me, and I really believe in the coaching staff.

“They made me feel important and have shown me how I can play early. With the coaches who they are, the opportunity to play early, and my feeling around Raleigh made NC State right for me.”

The visit was pivotal in Fagan’s decision. He knew he liked the staff, so it was about spending time around the school. That visit all but closed his recruitment.

“I knew I was going to NC State when I left the visit. I wanted to come home, talk with my family, and take a little more time, but I knew.

“The atmosphere outside of the school meant a lot to me. I just liked the town and the overall atmosphere on and off campus. The people were great, I felt really comfortable, and it is just the right fit.

“Once I got back, thought it over, I knew 100% of my decision.”

Fagan believes in the NC State coaching staff

The No. 284 prospect in the On3 Consensus is not only excited about his opportunity to play early for the Wolfpack. He is excited about playing for Joe DeForest as well.

“Me and coach DeForest are tight. I like everything about him. He has shown me his plan for me, I know he can develop players, and he is a coach I want to play for.

“He has recruited me hard, he has always been real with me, and I know I am important to him. We work well together and I know he can really help me develop.”

DeForest got the news from Fagan first. Dave Doeren was next. The No. 27 safety in the country gave the Wolfpack the news Monday, June 27.

The commitment is public and Fagan can’t wait to move to Raleigh.

“If I could put my pads on and play now, I would,” Fagan said. “NC State is a school on the rise. It will be a top school in the ACC this season and I can’t wait to get up there.

“They were so consistent with me, I have great relationships with the coaches, and they made me and my family feel good about this decision.”
