Nebraska was in desperate need of a big play in the third quarter against North Dakota. Anthony Grant rose to the occasion.

Grant rattled off a 46-yard touchdown run to put the Cornhuskers back on top 24-17 after North Dakota scored on the previous drive. It was his second touchdown of the day after he ran in a 19-yard touchdown to put Nebraska on the board in the first quarter.

Nebraska and North Dakota went into halftime tied up at 7-7 and Scott Frost voiced his displeasure in his interview with Big Ten Network. However, his team came out firing to start the second half, marching down the field for a six-play, 75-yard drive to take a 14-7 advantage.

But the Fighting Hawks kept pace with Nebraska and ended up tying the game in the third stanza before Grant’s big run.

Scott Frost criticizes Nebraska offense after sluggish first half vs North Dakota

Nebraska got off to a hot start against North Dakota in Week 1 on Saturday, taking an early 7-0 lead. But the Cornhuskers didn’t do much after that and the Fighting Hawks tied things up at 7-7 heading into halftime.

In his halftime interview, Scott Frost was not happy, to say the least.

“It’s bad,” Frost told Big Ten Network’s Rick Pizzo. “We have no rhythm, we don’t have anything going. We got a couple of sacks that cost us drives and we’ve got to finish. Defense has played well enough. We’ve got to get something going on offense. We’re going to talk a lot about it at halftime.”

Through one half of play, Nebraska had 147 yards of total offense — 26 fewer total yards than North Dakota had. That’s not what Frost wants as he tries to right the ship in Lincoln, following last week’s loss to Northwestern in Ireland.

Returning home from Dublin, Frost knows how important it is to win at Memorial Stadium. However, he called on his team to get the job done in the second half — especially considering the Cornhuskers get the ball out of the break.

“Our guys just need to execute better,” Frost said. “We’re going to come out and get the ball for the start of the second half and we’re going to take care of business.”
