Class of 2024 safety Donovan Jones of Omaha (NE) North High announced his commitment to Nebraska Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pounder chose the Cornhuskers over Wyoming, South Dakota State, and others.

Jones on why he chose Nebraska

“I would say the staff and how close they are and dedicated to getting the players better. It’s crazy, and their relationship with me is tight and I’m cool with the players. The new facilities are amazing too!”

Relationship with coaching staff stood out

“Coach Cooper, he’s the truth and can’t wait to learn with him. He does both safeties and corners, and they plan to use me anywhere on the back side.”

What it means to stay home

“It means a lot because not just my family at home, but my other family doesn’t live too far from Lincoln. So I can’t wait for them to watch the experience in person!”

The Nebraska defensive back joins coach Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers top 30 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star safety Roger Gradney, four-star cornerback Mario Buford, and others.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
