Three-star safety Rex Guthrie of Littleton (CO) Heritage High announced his commitment to Nebraska Monday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 200 pounder chose the Cornhuskers over Wyoming.

Guthrie on why he chose Nebraska

“What stood out to me the most was the coaching staff and the culture they are building there,” Guthrie said. “Everyone I talked to (players and all the staff) is completely bought into the program and ready to be great.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for him

“I built a really strong relationship with the whole coaching staff this weekend, especially the defensive staff,” Guthrie said. “Coach Cooper was the one who worked with me when I cam to camp, and he’s continued to believe in me and push me towards greatness. Coach Cooper settles for nothing less than being the best in the country, so I’m pumped to work with him and grow as a player. Coach Cooper and Coach White want me to learn all 3 safeties positions so I can be versatile and ready to play any of the spots.”

The Colorado defensive back joins coach Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers’ top 25 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star safety Roger Gradney, four-star cornerback Mario Buford, and others.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
