St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter College Prep four-star running back Jamarion Parker backed off his commitment to Arkansas last week, and another program is already trending in his recruitment.

The Razorbacks are still showing “a lot of interest” in Parker, who is being pursued by multiple schools following his decommitment, but it’s Nebraska who sits in the pole position, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

On Wednesday, he placed an expert prediction in favor of the Huskers for Parker in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Jamarion Parker will visit Nebraska on Thursday. And headed into the visit, the Huskers look like the program to beat,” Wiltfong wrote. “With that, I’ve logged an On3 RPM in favor of the Big Ten program for the 6-foot, 185-pound Parker. A four-star recruit, he ranks as the nation’s No. 24 prospect at his position.”

Parker’s high school coach broke down what has NU on top.

“Nebraska right now is in the lead because they’ve been consistently on him and building a relationship with him,” Cardinal Ritter head coach Brennan Spain said. ” … Jamarion is a relationship guy. He’s been through a lot in his life. He leans heavy on his relationships. When he identifies you have love for him off the field, he will empty the tank for you. He’s built a relationship with the running backs coach. He’s also been in communication with Matt Rhule as well.”

Coaching changes led to Parker’s decommitment

Parker had initially committed to the Razorbacks on September 1. According to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, a key reason why he chose the Razorbacks was because of associate head coach/running backs coach Jimmy Smith

Following the end of last season, Smith departed Fayetteville for TCU to become the Horned Frogs’ running backs coach. That played a pivotal role in Parker deciding to back off his pledge to Arkansas.

“I started thinking about this when coach Jimmy Smith left for TCU,” Parker told On3. “… With coach Smith leaving, I feel like it is time to open up my recruitment.”

The Huskers currently have just three in-state commitments in the 2025 cycle.

Omaha Millard North three-star safety Caden VerMaas, Omaha North three-star defensive lineman Tyson Terry and Wahoo Bishop Neumann three-star running back Conor Booth make up the trio of pledges.
