After two dominant seasons with Oklahoma as the ace pitcher for the Sooners, achieving back-to-back national championship victories along the way, pitcher Jordy Bahl decided to take her talents back home, transferring to Nebraska. While Oklahoma provided the opportunity to play for the premier program in the sport, she ultimately wanted to return from whence she came.

Bahl will also be reunited with Nebraska head coach Rhonda Revelle, who she’s been familiar with for a long time having grown up in Nebraska. According to Revelle, her relationship with Bahl goes back almost ten years to when she was little. When asked about those first memories of Bahl at a recent press conference, Revelle recalled the promising and selfless player she was even then.

“Well that’s a great question, thank you for asking that. I was trying to remember, it was 12 or 13 when I first met Jordy and I think I even heard about her before that,” shared Revelle. “And the thing is yes, she’s matured as a young woman, but she was that person then.”

Revelle then shared the following anecdote on Jordy Bahl the person even as a young teenager.

“You know, I remember very distinctly one time her saying ‘coach, I can’t come to this camp.’ You know, she talked about her love and her affection for her brothers — that’s really true. And they would take turns on who whose turn it was to go to camp and at one point in time it was one of her brothers’ turns, she wasn’t going to come to camp.

“And I always just had so much respect for how she was always so others-centered, whether it was her family or or a teammate or, you know, somebody even outside of that.”

Even back then, Jordy Bahl stood out to Coach Revelle. Of course, Bahl ultimately decided to leave home behind and become apart of the Oklahoma softball juggernaut. But after a few years and immense success with the Sooners, she’s back to try and bring her hometown team to the championship. Revelle is excited for that future and knows their previous relationship will only help the transition.

“So I was so blessed to have that time with Jordy before she decided to, you know, move in a different direction. I’m really looking forward to being able to pick up where we left off in the days coming.”

Nebraska softball is in for an exciting spring next year.
