Northbrook (Ill.) Glenbrook North tight end Pat Schaller announced his commitment to Northwestern on Sunday night. He chose the Wildcats over offers from Boston College and Central Michigan.

Schaller is not ranked in the 2024 On3 Consensus or 2024 On300. He is 6-foot-6 and weighs 220 pounds.

“I am extremely excited to announced my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career for Northwestern University!” Schaller wrote in a statement that was published to social media. “I would like to thank God for surrounding me with amazing coaches, parents, family, friends and teammates throughout my life. They have helped and supported me through this entire process and believed in me every step of the way, especially Coach Purdy! I’d like to also thank Coach Fitz, Coach Genyk, and the entire Northwestern staff for showing me so much love and trust in me over the past several months.”

An Illinois native, Schaller is the first member of Northwestern’s 2024 recruiting class. The Wildcats’ 2023 group is No. 34 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. It also ranks No. 7 in the Big Ten.

Northwestern’s class this cycle is led by Dayton (Ohio) Northmont four-star linebacker Nigel Glover, the No. 365 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus. The Wildcats also have commitments from two other top-500 prospects in Dearborn (Mich.) Divine Child three-star interior offensive lineman Dylan Senda and Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern three-star interior offensive lineman Jordan Knox.

Schaller has an On3 NIL Valuation of $12.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
