Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale four-star EDGE Caleb Herring will be heading to Columbus this weekend to visit Ohio State.

Herring, who announced the trip Thursday on Twitter, is regarded by three of the four major recruiting media companies as the top player from the state of Tennessee, according to the Industry Comparison Tool.

Herring is the No. 65 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15.7k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

On3’s Jeremy Johnson walked away from the Atlanta Pylon 7-on-7 tournament impressed with the four-star recruit’s ability. He named Herring a top performer for both the first day and the second day.

“Yes, an edge played 7-on-7,” Johnson said after the first day. “Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale edge Caleb Herring got his hands on a few passes. He also ran with slots and running backs in space all evening. He ran like a big wide receiver chasing around smaller players. Herring possesses length that makes him a coveted prospect.”

He wasn’t the only one either. Herring left Atlanta with a new offer from Georgia.

Herring went back to the Peach State the next weekend to visit the school. He caught up with DawgsHQ after the visit to breakdown all the big changes that have occurred in his recruitment.

“At the beginning of the year in January, my recruitment exploded, getting about ten offers. In February, it was a chill month, and now, in March, it’s been up and down. It’s been UT, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and just a list of schools hitting me up lately,” Herring told DawgsHQ.
