5-star CB Aaron Scott Jr. signs with Ohio State
Springfield (Ohio) five-star cornerback Aaron Scott has signed with Ohio State.
Scott committed to the Buckeyes in late July, choosing them over arch rival Michigan, and now joins a top-three recruiting class headed to Columbus.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder ranks as the No. 31 recruit nationally, the No. 2 cornerback in the country and top player in the Buckeye State, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Michigan made things interesting for the Buckeyes
At his commitment ceremony, Scott had Oregon, Ohio State and Michigan hats on the table. He quickly showed the Ducks weren’t a contender and removed the gray Oregon book bag off the table.
Scott then reached for the black and scarlet Ohio State bag and hat. He was about to place it on his head, but much like the Oregon gear, it was discarded — only much more carefully.
The maize and blue was the only option on the table.
A bright block M shone and as Scott reached for the bag, he opened it first. What he pulled out wasn’t a Michigan anything, except a reminder that it still has work to do to take the best out of Ohio.
Scott instead pulled out a white Ohio State football jersey to announce his choice.
“I feel like just being from Ohio and just knowing what they can do for me, they made me feel like I’m needed,” Scott told reporters after his announcement. “[The backpack] was a planned thing, just throw [people] off a little bit.”

“Coordinated corner with some of the best film and ball skills at the position in 2024. Measured in at a shade over 6-feet and around 180 pounds prior to his senior season. Has good length for the position. Tacked on solid weight over the course of his junior year. Tests as a good athlete in the combine setting. Showed good speed in his junior track season, running a personal best of 11.05 seconds in the 100 meters. A standout corner on Friday nights who gives up very little through the air.
… Does a phenomenal job of playing through receivers’ hands. Has high level ball production, with 5 interceptions and 7 pass breakups as a junior. Uses his length and coordination to make plays on the football at a high rate. Shows good coverage instincts overall, particularly when defending vertical routes. Can improve his trigger and break on the ball. One of the younger prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle, turning 18 years-old in the summer prior to his freshman year of college.”
