Four-star safety Jontae Gilbert of Atlanta (GA) Douglass High announced his decommitment from Ohio State Saturday night.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pounder had been committed to the Buckeyes since July 2022.

Gilbert sent a statement to On3 concerning his decommitment:

“First off I want to thank God for all of the blessings he has been sending my way. I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me through my decision. This was a very hard decision to make but after long talks with my family and my coaches I now want to say I am opening back up my recruiting and decommit from Ohio State. Respect my decision! Thank you Buckeye Nation for everything and to all the Ohio State coaching staff.”

The Peach State defensive back currently holds a total of 24 offers.

Gilbert ranks as the No. 35 player according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 3 safety and the No. 7 player in the state of Georgia.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $104K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
