Former Ohio State tight end turned defensive lineman Cormontae Hamilton has revealed his transfer destination. On Monday, Hamilton took to Twitter to announce he was returning home, suiting up for the Memphis Tigers in 2022.

“First off I would like to give thanks to God for the opportunities and allowing me to play at The Ohio State University for three years,” started Hamilton. “To the coaching staff I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to be a Buckeye! To my teammates the memories and brotherhood that we have built together will not be forgotten. I love y’all men. To myself it’s time to turn the page and continue God’s plan.

“Thank you to all the coaches that had interest in me during this transfer process. I would like to announce that I will be attending University of Memphis with 3 years of eligibility left. Thanks Coach Silverfield and Coach Barnes for the opportunity to come play in my hometown.”

After moving from tight end to defensive lineman for the Buckeyes, Hamilton showed some promise for the Buckeyes. Over the course of his time at Ohio State, the defensive lineman accumulated six total tackles and two sacks in limited action.

Luckily, there’s some familiarity at Memphis for Hamilton, asides from being his hometown. Former Ohio State defensive backs coach Matt Barnes is entering his first season as the defensive coordinator at Memphis. Last season, Barnes stepped up and called plays when Buckeyes coach Ryan Day stripped then-defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs of play-calling duties.

A former three-star recruit in the class of 2019, Hamilton was the No. 26 tight end in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. Additionally, Hamilton played his high school football at Whitehaven in Memphis, Tennessee. When he decided to attend Ohio State, the tight end was the No. 21 recruit out of Tennessee, and the No. 620 recruit overall in the nation.

Additionally, Hamilton has an NIL value of $35,000, according to On3’s NIL Valuations. Hamilton has 7.9K total followers across multiple platforms, and has a per post value of $172 on Instagram, and $136 on Twitter. The defensive lineman is ranked No. 767 among all college football athletes.

While Cormontae Hamilton will hold his time at Ohio State in high regard, he’ll be looking to make a greater impact at the University of Memphis.
