Marvin Harrison Jr. is definitely the best wide receiver in college football in 2023, and maybe the best player. And his former Ohio State running mate and reigning NFL offensive rookie of the year Garrett Wilson is standing on the table for Harrison Jr.

Wilson and Harrison Jr. overlapped for just one year at Ohio State in 2021, but the New York Jet a lot in just a year. During the Ohio State spring game on Saturday afternoon, Wilson spoke with the Big Ten Network and discussed the talent and work ethic that Harrison Jr. brings.

“He’s better than anything I’ve seen. Watching Marv, it’s truly an honor,” Wilson said. “I got to see him since … he was a young guy in the facility. He’s got the right head on his shoulders, goes about things the right way. And he can ball. It shows on Saturdays, it shows on days like this. But most importantly, he’s a great person and I’m excited to see the success that he’s having.”

Harrison Jr. got his first real shine for Ohio State right as Wilson — and Chris Olave — were stepping away. Olave and Wilson opted out of the 2022 Rose Bowl following the 2021 season, focusing on NFL draft prep.

This left an opening that Jaxon Smith-Njigba famously used to set a Rose Bowl record for receiving yards, but Harrison Jr. burst onto the scene that evening, too. Harrison Jr. reeled in six catches for 71 yards and three touchdowns against Utah in an Ohio State victory.

He followed it up with a season that made him a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top receiver in college football. Harrison Jr. caught 77 passes for 1263 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2022. And he brought his best in the biggest games.

Against Penn State: 10 receptions, 185 yards.

Against Michigan: seven receptions, 120 yards and a touchdown.

Against Georgia: five receptions, 106 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s also the best receiver that current Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline thinks he’s coached. That’s high praise from the person who has played an integral role in turning Ohio State into a go-to spot for the top wide receiver prospects out of high school.

Heading into 2023, a season where Harrison Jr. is the comfortable favorite for the Biletnikoff and solidify his status as a Top 10 pick in the NFL draft, he can also count Wilson as a fan. Not that it was ever a doubt.
