It wasn’t the prettiest time for Ohio State over the 2022-2023 basketball season, but the Buckeyes can take solace in their fight during the Big Ten Tournament.

Nobody gave them a prayer, and Ohio State made it all the way to the semifinals, eventually losing to Big Ten Tournament champion Purdue. For Buckeyes stars Justice Sueing and Bruce Thornton, the journey was a wild one, and they learned some valuable life lessons over the last couple of months.

“I think the biggest thing I’ll take away from this is that we finished it off the right way,” stated Sueing. “We had our ups and downs through the season. We had a lot of downs, especially to start off the year 2023.

“What’s important is we were able to finish it strong together. We had our best play of basketball this past month-and-a-half, and I’m just really proud of the guys. I’m really proud of my teammates.”

While Ohio State’s season ended with the loss to the Boilermakers, Thornton believes the Buckeyes showed the nation what they were capable of.

“We just showed what we were capable of playing,” added Thornton. “We didn’t show our true character throughout the season. We went through a drought where we didn’t play our best. At the end, we picked it up, and we were playing our best basketball.

“We just showed people we didn’t quit. We kept fighting till the end. We played a good Purdue team. Give our hats to them. At the end of the day, I love our guys, love the coaches, love the fans. So I’m so proud of them.”

It was certainly a roller coaster season for Ohio State, but Justice Sueing and Bruce Thornton make a good point, and should be proud of the Buckeyes end of the season run.

Perhaps next year they’ll put together a more complete campaign, but it’s nice to see the team came together in a strong way over the last couple of weeks.
