The Ohio State Buckeyes will now be without one of their primary offensive leaders. Junior running back Master Teague has elected to forgo his senior season and has declared for the NFL draft. Teague made the announcement via his personal Twitter with this letter and voice message.

Teague was the Buckeyes starter last season after taking over for J.K Dobbins after he left via the NFL draft. It was a COVID-shortened season In 2020, Teague rushed for 514 yards on 104 carries. Teague finished that season averaging 4.9 yards per carry with eight touchdowns. That was the only one of his seasons in which he averaged less than five yards per carry.

However, for the 2021 season, Teague found himself falling out of favor for the majority of the season with the Ohio State offensive game plan. With a high-powered offense predicated on an aerial assault and by CJ Stroud and a mass of talented receivers, the junior running back could only sit back as his carries per game diminished. That coupled with the breakout performance from a pair of freshman running backs in Trevyon Henderson and Miyan Williams explains the lack of big numbers this season from Teague.

Another Buckeye bids farewell to Ohio State

Ohio State offensive lineman Thayer Munford put together a successful career with the Buckeyes’ program, and he’s now moving onto the next chapter of his career.

A 6-foot-6, 320-pound lineman, Munford – a native of Cincinnati – played four seasons at Ohio State. Through those four years, Munford appeared in 46 total games on the offensive line and was a part of much success with the Buckeyes.

A First Team All-Big Ten selection last season, Munford committed to Ohio State back on Feb. 1, 2017. He chose to play for the Buckeyes over schools such as Alabama, Iowa State, Kentucky, Miami, Memphis, Michigan State, Minnesota and Pittsburgh.

Following Ohio State’s 48-45 win over Utah in the Rose Bowl on Saturday, Munford penned a farewell letter to the Buckeyes’ program on Monday.

“I would first like to give all glory to God for helping me throughout my whole career here at THE Ohio State University,” Munford said. “The connections that I have made with everyone here made me a better man. Thank you for the memories and I can’t wait for the next level and can’t wait to see what is has to offer me and my family.”
