Seth Towns hasn’t played for Ohio State this season. In fact, he won’t see the court at all.

Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann confirmed today Towns is out for the year to focus on rehabbing. Towns was working his way back to full strength and appeared on track to come back until recently, according to Holtmann.

“I was under the assumption that he would return up until this week,” Holtmann told reporters on Tuesday.

Towns arrived at Ohio State in 2020 after four years at Harvard. He took medical redshirts in 2018-19 and 2019-20. Last season, he played in 25 games for the Buckeyes and averaged 3.8 points per game in 10.8 minutes per contest.

“I’m disappointed for Seth,” Holtmann said. “He’s had a rough go of injuries.”

Ohio State is 14-5 overall this year and 7-3 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes are coming off an 82-67 win over Maryland on Sunday and checked at No. 16 in this week’s AP Top 25.

Next up for Ohio State is a showdown with Rutgers on Wednesday on the road. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.

Only two top-10 teams lost in Week 13, but many others fell in the top 25

For the first time in a while, it was a relatively clean week for the majority of the top ten. Only two teams ranked in last week’s AP Top 25 Poll lost in Week 13: UCLA and Baylor. UCLA actually lost both of its games on the week, falling to Arizona and Arizona State. Baylor went 1-1 after beating West Virginia and being blown out by Kansas.

Auburn survived an upset bid from Georgia, improving to 2-0 on the week, also picking up a win against Alabama. Gonzaga, Purdue, Kentucky, Houston, Arizona, Duke, and Kansas all also went 2-0 during Week 13. Arizona picked up two ranked wins against UCLA and USC on the week, resulting in a bit of a rise in this week’s poll.
