Ohio State suspended backup quarterback Jack Miller III after he was arrested Friday morning and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He missed Saturday’s 26-17 win over Nebraska, and his future status remains unclear. Tuesday afternoon, Cleveland.com published dash-cam footage of the traffic stop on YouTube.

The state officer who pulled Miller over reveals the quarterback drove erratically while weaving through traffic. He also said that he smelled alcohol within the vehicle.

In the video, Miller says, “I just want to let you know, we’re also football players, so, like, I would never do some s–t like that.” He went on to tell the officer that only his passengers consumed alcohol, while he remained sober.

Following a failed sobriety test, Jack Miller was arrested and charged with OVI.

Ohio State statement

Following the arrest, Ohio State University representatives quickly released a statement on the situation, confirming Miller’s suspension after the arrest.

“Ohio State QB Jack Miller has been suspended from the team after he was arrested by Ohio State Highway Patrol officers Friday morning and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired,” the press release read. “Miller was released from custody and issued a summons to appear in court for the OVI.”

A redshirt freshman out of Scottsdale, Arizona, Miller has appeared in four games for the Buckeyes in 2021, completing 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards. He was a four-star recruit coming out of Chaparral High School and committed to Ohio State in July 2018.

Former Buckeye released

The Las Vegas Raiders released former Ohio State cornerback and 2020 first-round draft pick Damon Arnette less than a week after releasing fellow first-round pick Henry Ruggs III for DUI resulting in death charges.

The former Ohio State cornerback has had a short, tumultuous tenure with the Raiders. His recent antics are especially troubling, however. Damon Arnette posted videos on social media that included death threats and vulgar language. Along with threatening words, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native waved a gun around at the camera.

“On everything I love, I will kill you,” Arnette can be heard saying in one of the videos.

The signs of trouble started early on for Damon Arnette with the Raiders. In 2020, Arnette reportedly crashed four rental cars in the span of a month. He is also facing a $500,000 lawsuit from an altercation with a valet driver at Aria Resort and Casino. The cornerback’s lawyers have filed a countersuit.
