Ohio State landed a massive recruiting win on Friday night when Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star cornerback Bryce West committed to the Buckeyes. His decision elevated Ohio State’s talented 2024 recruiting class.

The Buckeyes’ group now ranks No. 2 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. In addition to ranking No. 1 in the Big Ten, Ohio State climbed one spot from No. 3.

“Ohio State has done a great job from the beginning of recruiting me,” West told On3’s Chad Simmons on June 15. “Ohio State has a great coaching staff. They bring a lot of energy. I know players there, I know commitments in this recruiting class and it is a place I could see myself.”

West is the No. 56 overall prospect and No. 6 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Ohio.

On3 rates West higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 52 overall prospect in the country.

West is the latest talented recruit to choose Ohio State

Following West’s pledge, head coach Ryan Day and his staff have commitments from five top-100 prospects. They are West, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, New Haven (Ind.) five-star wide receiver Mylan Graham, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star quarterback Air Noland and San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial four-star running back James Peoples.

West is the second player to choose the Buckeyes this month, alongside West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep four-star safety Jaylen McClain. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound recruit has visited Columbus multiple times this year.

“Ohio State is full of guys I would want to compete with every day,” West said. “I feel a little pressure to go to Ohio State, but it is not too bad. It is nothing I am really stressing about it. I just believe I will make the best decision for me.”

The Buckeyes’ class now contains 15 players and is composed of two five-stars, 11 four-stars and two three-stars. Some of the other blue-chip players pledged to Ohio State include New Palestine (Ind.) four-star interior offensive lineman Ian Moore, Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut four-star linebacker Garrett Stover, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star running back Jordan Lyle and Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star linebacker Payton Pierce.
