Ohio State is on pace to finish with another top-five recruiting class for the fifth year in a row, currently owning the No. 2 pledge list in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.

With the December signing period lurking closer, many programs are putting the finishing touches on their 2024 class while simultaneously turning their attention to 2025. The Buckeyes currently have just one pledge in the following cycle, but that could be doubled in the coming days.

Baltimore St. Frances Academy four-star cornerback Blake Woodby is set to announce his commitment on Oct. 14, choosing between Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Oregon and Tennessee. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), it’s the Buckeyes’ battle to lose.

Following a prediction logged by ScoopDuck recruiting insider Justin Hopkins, Ohio State now has a 91.1% chance to land the pledge of Woodby, the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 9 CB in the 2025 cycle — per the On3 Industry Ranking.

“Ohio State was my dream school when I started playing corner. There’s nothing like the block O,” Woodby told On3’s Hayes Fawcett upon announcing his five finalists.

Woodby is making his third visit to Ohio State this weekend as the Buckeyes host Maryland. Secondary coach Tim Walton is leading the recruitment of the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder.

“Ohio State is everything I was hoping it to be and even more,” Woodby told Lettermen Row. “Sometimes when you’re going through the recruiting process you hear the same thing from every coach, but it wasn’t like that when I got into contact with Coach Walton.”

The Buckeyes’ 2024 class currently consists of three cornerback pledges, two of whom are top-five recruits at the position this cycle. Springfield (Ohio) four-star Aaron Scott Jr. and Cleveland Glenville four-star Bryce West are the No. 40 and No. 55 overall recruits, respectively, while Chandler (Ariz.) Basha three-star Miles Lockhart is the No. 7 player in Arizona.

A commitment from Woodby would bring him alongside OSU’s only current 2025 pledge, Bellefontaine (Ohio) four-star quarterback Tavien St. Claire, the No. 8 signal-caller in the cycle.

Woodby has an On3 NIL Valuation of $62K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
