With the addition of Houston North Shore 2025 five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez, Ohio State has taken over the top spot in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, moving up from No. 6.

Sanchez chose the Buckeyes over Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. He took a game-day visit on October 21 to Columbus.

“I knew after I took my first visit out to Ohio,” Sanchez told On3. “It was fun seeing what they do, and it all came to me after my visit for the Penn State game. I knew it was real when I didn’t go to Alabama and LSU weeks later. I thought to myself — what am I holding out for? Why wait?”

Sanchez, the No. 2-ranked cornerback in the On300 for next year’s class, gave a silent commitment to Buckeyes DB coach Tim Walton on November 2.

Devin Sanchez Scouting Summary: Tall, athletic cornerback with a high level of technical skill as an underclassman prospect. Stars for one of the top high school football programs in the state of Texas. Listed at an unverified 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Took a big jump as a sophomore, showing lockdown tendencies, particularly in man coverage. Smooth and technical with the footwork, instincts and play speed to stay attached. Makes some impressive plays in downfield coverage.

Turned in some strong track times as a sophomore, with a personal best of 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters. Looks to have one of the best size and speed combinations among cornerbacks early on in the 2025 cycle. Will need to continue adding good mass and strength in addition to continuing to develop his already solid ball skills.

Buckeyes hold top spot in 2025

Sanchez is the fifth prospect to commit to Ohio State’s 2025 class. He joins Bellefontaine (Ohio) top-20 quarterback Tavien St. Clair, Baltimore St. Frances Academy four-star cornerback Blake Woodby, Cocoa (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs and Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban three-star linebacker Eli Lee.

St. Clair is the No. 2 signal-caller in the 2025 On300 and pledged to the Buckeyes on June 21.

“The tradition, the quarterback development,” he said, “Just what’s gonna put me in the best position to go to the NFL.”
