Chicago (Ill.) IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Carnell Tate is one of the top wideouts in the 2023 class. The Ohio State commit demonstrated why on Friday night against Phenix City (Ala.) Central.

Tate reeled in a short crossing route and outran multiple defenders. He then used a stiff arm to break free for a touchdown.

The 6-foot-2, 178 pound wideout is the No. 37 overall prospect and No. 6 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Florida.

Tate, Miami Gardens (Fla.) American Heritage five-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss and Rolesville (N.C.) four-star wide receiver Noah Rogers all are committed to the Buckeyes and rank in the top 10 at their position, according the On3 Consensus. Additionally, they are the three-highest-rated prospects in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 3 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten.

Tate, who will be visiting the Buckeyes again this weekend, has an On3 NIL Valuation of $233K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Carnell Tate On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Carnell Tate:

“Well-rounded receiver with technical savvy and large catch radius. Has very long arms and big hands. Highly coordinated with the ability to track, adjust and high-point the football in contested situations. Has shown some encouraging route-running skills. Doubles as a dangerous return man due to his change of direction and open-field vision. A good athlete with play speed, though not quite as fast as some of his peers in a combine setting.”
