The Oklahoma State Cowboys got some great news on Thursday evening. They learned that their starting quarterback, Alan Bowman, was granted a waiver from the NCAA for his seventh year of eligibility in the 2024 season. OSU announced the news in a press release on their website.

“Alan met the criteria for an extension of his eligibility due to his season ending injury in 2019 combined with redshirting at the University of Michigan,” OSU’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Ben Dyson said. “We appreciate the assistance of the Texas Tech training staff for providing us the documentation we needed to quickly process our waiver request.”

Bowman also made a brief post on his Twitter page following the announcement.

“Just want to say thanks to all my Oklahoma State teammates, the coaches and fans for helping make the 2023 season the most fun I’ve ever had playing football. That said, I just heard back that I was granted another year of eligibility, and we have unfinished business. I love Stillwater and this program, so I’ll be back in 2024 to make a championship run. Go Pokes! Alan Bowman.”

This season, he completed 60.7% of his passes for 3,460 yards, while tossing in 15 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. One of his best performances came in the last game of the season, when the Cowboys defeated the Texas A&M Aggies 31-23 in the TaxAct Texas Bowl. Bowman completed 34 of 49 passes for 402 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns with two interceptions.

Before transferring to the Cowboys, he spent three seasons with the Texas Tech Red Raiders and two with the Michigan Wolverines. One of his best seasons came at Texas Tech in 2018, when he completed 69.4% of his passes for 2,638 yards, while tossing in 17 touchdown passes with seven interceptions.

Next year will be his second season with Oklahoma State.
