Oklahoma State fans took to the field Saturday to celebrate the Cowboys’ Bedlam victory over Oklahoma. It was quite the celebration for what, at least for now, looks like the end of one of college football’s most storied rivalry.

Amid the field-storming, the OSU faithful took down the goalpost.

A sea of orange took to the field at Boone Pickens Stadium, and multiple fans started to rip the goalpost out of the ground. They succeeded — and the cameras were rolling.

Oklahoma took a 21-17 lead into the fourth quarter of the game, which was the final installment of the rivalry before the Sooners head to the SEC. But Oklahoma State rallied back and scored 10 points in the final frame to come away with the 27-24 victory in Stillwater.

In the 118 Bedlam games between the two teams, Oklahoma held the edge for a majority of the time. The Sooners hold a 91-19-7 record over Oklahoma State.

Mike Gundy: ‘This is the best’ win over Oklahoma

It’s no secret how well Oklahoma has fared in the rivalry, and Mike Gundy doesn’t have too many wins to choose from. But in his postgame interview with ESPN with Tom Luginbill, Gundy admitted Saturday’s win was the best one. He was happy for his players and most importantly, the fans inside Boone Pickens Stadium.

“Well, obviously, this is the best,” Gundy said. “We’ve had a lot of really good ones. But for these players to enjoy the fruits of their labor. And the crowd. It’s special for the crowd and for these people here to end it this way… It’s a great finish for Oklahoma State in the Bedlam, to finish off with a win.”

Gundy’s first Bedlam game as the head coach was in 2005, taking over at Oklahoma State from Les Miles. Since then, the Pokes have just four wins against Oklahoma. Somehow, on an annual basis, the Sooners found a way to crush their in-state rivals.

However, Oklahoma is now off to the SEC and the two teams are not expected to face off against one another for quite some time. Yes, the overall series record might now sit at 91-20-7 but winning the last one will be something Oklahoma State never lets go of.
