WATCH: Oklahoma State guard John Michael Wright tips in game-winner against Texas Tech

The Oklahoma State Cowboys were able to squeak past the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday night, thanks to some late game heroics from their guard, John-Michael Wright. With 0.4 seconds remaining, the senior was able to tip-in a miss from Bryce Thompson. Thompson’s shot bounced off the rim, and John-Michael Wright followed the shot on the rebound, getting fouled in the process. The tip back went in, and it would prove to be the game winner, much to the delight of the fans in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Oklahoma State prevailed 71-68, after he drilled his free throw attempt to complete the three-point play. Wright stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, and one assist in 23 minutes of work. The Cowboys prevailed despite shooting only 21.7% (5 of 23) from three-point range. Bryce Thompson carried Oklahoma State with 21 points, four steals, and three rebounds.

Texas Tech hit 10 of their 11 three throws, shooting 90.9% from the line. Guard Jaylon Tyson carried the Red Raiders, pouring in 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the field. He got some assistance from Texas Tech’s De’Vion Harmon, who stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists in the losing effort. Kevin Obanor added 15 points for the Red Raiders.

Oklahoma State took the lead early in Wednesday night’s game and led by as many as 15 points in the second half. The Cowboys have now won five of their last six in the series, including a 52-51 win in which Bryce Thompson delivered a game-winning three-pointer. The game-winner was with 19 seconds left on the clock and Texas Tech was ranked No. 12 at the time.

Next up, Oklahoma State will face 11th-ranked Iowa State on the road on Saturday. Texas Tech travels on the road to face No. 12 Kansas State.
