Oklahoma State has filled out a key staff position, hiring Paul Randolph as the new defensive line coach for the Cowboys, the school announced on Thursday. He most recently served in the same role at Indiana.

Randolph spent the last two seasons at Indiana as he crossed over 25 years of college coaching. He’s been a defensive line coach for more than 20 of those years.

He replaces Greg Richmond, who has been a long time assistant at his alma mater.

Randolph played college football at UT-Martin before going on to a successful career in the Canadian Football League. He began his coaching career at his alma mater before making stops at Valdosta State and Illinois State before going to higher levels. He’s made stops at Toledo, West Virginia, Alabama, Rice, Tulsa, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Memphis, Texas Tech and then Indiana.

The Cowboys are bringing back experience at quarterback for 2024

The Cowboys got some great news last week, learning that their starting quarterback, Alan Bowman, was granted a waiver from the NCAA for his seventh year of eligibility in the 2024 season. OSU announced the news in a press release on their website.

“Alan met the criteria for an extension of his eligibility due to his season ending injury in 2019 combined with redshirting at the University of Michigan,” OSU’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Ben Dyson said. “We appreciate the assistance of the Texas Tech training staff for providing us the documentation we needed to quickly process our waiver request.”

Bowman also made a brief post on his Twitter page following the announcement.

“Just want to say thanks to all my Oklahoma State teammates, the coaches and fans for helping make the 2023 season the most fun I’ve ever had playing football. That said, I just heard back that I was granted another year of eligibility, and we have unfinished business. I love Stillwater and this program, so I’ll be back in 2024 to make a championship run. Go Pokes!”

This season, he completed 60.7% of his passes for 3,460 yards, while tossing in 15 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. One of his best performances came in the last game of the season, when the Cowboys defeated the Texas A&M Aggies 31-23 in the TaxAct Texas Bowl. Bowman completed 34 of 49 passes for 402 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns with two interceptions in the win.
