Alabama transfer receiver Traeshon Holden is currently on visit to Oregon

Oregon is looking to get some help at wide receiver during the transfer cycle, and the Ducks apparently have their eye on a former Alabama wideout who recently packed up his bags and entered the portal. The name? Traeshon Holden, a redshirt sophomore this past season who emerged as a top target for Bryce Young but ultimately decided to find a new home at the end of the season.

Late Thursday evening, Holden alerted his social media following that he was in Eugene, Oregon — home of the university — by tweeting out a picture of a pin with the location denoting that he was in fact in Eugene. Check it out:

Seems pretty clear that Holden and Oregon have mutual interest and the talented WR is giving the campus and program a visit before possibly deciding to go there. Of course, Holden is from California, so while Oregon is still a state away, the Pac-12 power is a much closer-to-home destination than Alabama.

This past season, Traeshon Holden sort of had his breakthrough. He accounted for 331 yards and went for over 13 yards per catch. He also recorded six touchdowns, which was one behind the team-leader. And obviously, he has recruiting pedigree, given that Nick Saban welcomed him to Tuscaloosa.

So all in all, a highly coveted transfer. Out of hundreds and eventually thousands that will enter the transfer portal, On3 has Holden ranked right now at 37th in the Transfer Portal rankings. 37th out of just an immense number of players. All that to say: he’s a darn good pickup for anybody, so Ducks fans should be thrilled that he’s spending some time in Phil Knight country.

Holden played high school football at Harbor City (CA) Narbonne, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 193 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
