Brandon Dorlus Interview Final

The Oregon Ducks are preparing for one of their most anticipated games of the 2023 season as they look to derail the hype train that is the Colorado Buffaloes’ 2023 season. While Oregon is currently a 21-point favorite in this weekend’s matchup, it’d be hard to know, since Colorado has garnered so much attention and hoopla from the national media.

The Ducks are currently ranked No. 10 in the country and figure to be the toughest test the Buffaloes have faced yet. On Wednesday’s podcast, On3’s Andy Staples took some time to speak with Oregon defensive end Brandon Dorlus. The Ducks’ defensive end admitted how different it is seeing the Buffaloes garner more attention that Oregon heading into the matchup.

Brandon Dorlus is not worried about the hype around the game

“I mean, yeah. Since I’ve been at Oregon, every time we’ve played Colorado…we’ve smashed Colorado. And now, everything Colorado [has] got going on. It’s just crazy because you know, on social media, you can see Colorado. I don’t follow what Colorado posts…..nothing. All I see is Deion, Shedeur, all them boys. So, it’s like, it’s different, but you know, at the end of the day, you’ve gotta make it about your team. Make it about locking into your fundamentals and doing what you know is gonna help you win the game. You can’t make it about all the hype you got going on right now,” Dorlus said on Wednesday evening.

What were his memories of Deion Sanders growing up?

“I mean, you know. I watched the highlights. I’ve seen the celebrations he did. I know he played baseball, too. I wasn’t a big fan of Deion. I wasn’t growing up watching him all the time. Just off the highlights, the kick returns, played with the flash, the swagger he had. Everybody’s seen him. Everybody’s watched Deion. Everybody wanted to be like “Prime Time”. So, watching it. It’s going to be funny seeing him on the sidelines, for sure,” Dorlus said.

Is he going to be saying anything to Deion Sanders in the game?

“No. I’m talking all with my pads and my hands. [Those] will do the talking,” Dorlus said.

Through three games, the Ducks have racked up six sacks. They’ll face a Colorado offensive line that has been one of the weakest units in the nation. Both teams currently sit at 3-0 on the 2023 campaign.

The Buffaloes’ have allowed 16 sacks in their first three games, ranking them in a tie for 130th in the country in that stat. The only college football team in the nation that has allowed more is Old Dominion. They’ve allowed 18 sacks thus far.

Colorado and Oregon are set to face off on Saturday, Sept 23rd. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST from Autzen Stadium and the game will be nationally televised on ABC.
