Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields has flipped his commitment from USC to the Oregon Ducks.

Fields had previously been committed to the Trojans since June 5, but opted to take an unofficial visit to Oregon last weekend and announced his flip today.

The 6-foot-1.5, 175-pounder is the No. 95 overall prospect and No. 13 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 11 player in California.

Prior to his commitment to the Trojans, Fields had taken three visits to Oregon with the last coming on April 10. He was initially scheduled to officially visit the Ducks in June, but canceled that trip after committing to the Trojans on June 5.

“I see a lot of confidence in Coach Lanning,” Fields told On3’s Chad Simmons in January. “I think he really gets the team fired up. Win or loss, he lives to fight another day. I just love the coaching staff. I just love the energy they bring.”

Dakoda Fields currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $109K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Oregon’s class jumps to No. 11 in nation

The addition of Fields to Dan Lanning’s class is massive for the Ducks, as the California CB now headlines the team’s 21 pledges as the only top-100 overall prospect. He also further cements the strength of Oregon’s 2024 class: the secondary.

Fields, Baltimore St. Frances Academy four-star CB Ify Obidegwu and Forney (Texas) four-star safety Aaron Flowers are the three highest-ranked players in the class and are all top-125 prospects. The defensive back commits also includes Sacramento Grant Union four-star safety Kingston Lopa, the No. 20 safety in the cycle.

Oregon’s class is now No. 11 in the country and features a 62% blue-chip rate. Of the 21 commits, 13 are four-stars. Behind the three DBs, Newport Beach (Calif.) Harbor wide receiver Jordan Anderson, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly linebacker Dylan Williams and Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen OT Fox Crader bolster the class as top-200 recruits.
