The Oregon Ducks picked up a huge win at home Saturday afternoon, dominating the Colorado Buffaloes 42-6. While there was plenty to celebrate during and after the game, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning had some unfortunate news about one of his key players in the matchup. According to Lanning, running back Noah Whittington got dinged up in the game. And unfortunately, it looks like he will be out for quite some time.

“Yeah, I don’t normally talk about injuries, but there is more to be decided here,” said Lanning during the postgame press conference. “I think Noah is going to be down for a little bit. So I need everybody to say their prayers for him. He is healthy, he’s OK, but he’s probably going to be down for a little bit.

“That is a tough kid, a tough kid that we’re really proud of and fortunate to have. And there are bright days ahead for Noah. I just don’t know if we’ll have them here in the next few weeks.

Whittington and the stable of running backs at Oregon ran all over the Colorado defense. They rushed for 240 yards as a team, with three of their six touchdowns in the game coming on the ground. Whittingham was responsible for one of those three touchdown carries, along with eight touches for 45 yards.

Lanning calls Nix the best QB in college football

A victory of this magnitude can say plenty about a team and their players just by the performance that they put together. And for Lanning, Saturday’s victory over Colorado says precisely what he’s known about Nix — he’s the best signal caller in the nation.

“We’ve got the best quarterback in the nation,” said Lanning. “I know that; I can see that. You see all the plays that he throws and all the plays he can make with his feet. But you guys don’t see all the checks that he makes, you don’t see what he does for this team, you don’t see his leadership. He sent a text this morning to me that was impactful for me. That guy shapes me; that guy makes me a better person. And we got that guy on our team. So, we’re so blessed to have him.”

Nix put on a show against the Colorado defense, carving them up through the air. The Super senior quarterback completed all but five of his 33 pass attempts for 276 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns: three passing and one rushing.

He did have one miscue in the game, which was an interception thrown midway through the second quarter. Aside from that lone interception, Nix was lights out against Colorado.
