Converse (Texas) Judson defensive lineman Johnny Bowens has been committed to Texas A&M for nearly five months, but other programs haven’t taken their foot off the gas.

LSU, AlabamaNebraska and Oregon have all remained in contact with him, and the Ducks will get him on campus this weekend for an unofficial visit.

Oregon, led by assistants Tony Tuioti and Matt Powledge have been in Bowens’ ear since offering him in February. He told On3’s Chad Simmons in March that he is still committed to the Aggies. And it would take “something major” for him to change that pledge. However, he did say he is still open to all schools in his recruitment.

“Since Oregon offered, they have been talking to me,” Bowens said in March. “They know I want to get into business. So they have talked about how they can help with that after football. I know they have had some good players and coach Tony Tuioti and I have been talking a good bit. It is a school I want to visit.”

According to On3’s Sam Spiegelman, both Alabama and Georgia, neither of whom have extended an offer to Bowens, are being considered for official visits this summer.

Johnny Bowens is the No. 237 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 33 defensive lineman and the No. 39 junior in the state of Texas.
