Retired Super Bowl winning running back and former Oregon Duck LeGarrette Blount had some choice words about his former head coach, Chip Kelly. Blount played one season, 2009, under Kelly at Oregon. And according to him, in a recent statement, he and his former head coach did not have the best relationship in terms of support.

John Canzano, reporter, and columnist for The Oregonian, caught up with Blount on Monday and asked him about the former Duck’s headman.

“I don’t think he ever really supported me,” said Blount when asked about Kelly. And he didn’t stop there as Canzano would go on to say.

“Blount said UO assistant Gary Campbell and former Oregon Ducks head coach Mike Bellotti were more supportive of him during his suspension and reinstatement in 2009,” wrote Canzano.

Blount gained notoriety in the 2009 season with Chip Kelly for all the wrong reasons. He entered the year as one of the nation’s top running backs and projected to be a top pick in the 2010 draft. However, none of that came to flourishing for the former Oregon running. Blount was suspended indefinitely following the Ducks season opener loss to the Boise State Broncos. After their 18-9 loss to the Broncos, Blount threw a punch, connecting with the face of a Bosie State lineman. Because of that and other off-the-field issues, he would go undrafted in 2010.

Three former Oregon Ducks taken in the USFL

On the final day of the inaugural USFL Draft, three more players with Oregon ties were selected.

In an interesting turn of events, they were all selected by the same franchise.

Safety Tyree Robinson was selected with the first pick of the 19th round by the Birmingham Stallions. A 12-game starter for the Ducks during his senior season in 2017, Robinson tallied 201 tackled, six interceptions, and 5.5 tackles for loss throughout his four seasons at Oregon.

He later went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, as well as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Edmonton Elks of the Canadien Football League.

Offensive lineman Cameron Hunt was selected with the third pick of the 22nd round by the Birmingham Stallions.

A two-year starter at right guard who played for the Ducks from 2013-16, Hunt received the Ed Moshofsky Trophy, given to the team’s outstanding offensive linemen, as a senior in 2016. He went on to play for the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders from 2017-19.

Running back Tony Brooks-James, who played for the Ducks from 2014-2018, was selected with the seventh pick of the 27th round — also by the Birmingham Stallions.
