Chandler (Ariz.) four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington announced a top four of Florida, LSU, Oklahoma and Oregon two weeks ago.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, he is heavily favored to land in Eugene. The RPM gives the Ducks a 92.2% chance to earn Washington’s commitment. The Sooners have the second-best odds at 2.4%, while the Tigers have a 2.1% chance.

Washington, at 6-foot-2 and 320 pounds, took official visits to Oklahoma, LSU and Michigan State in June. However, he has visited Oregon three times unofficially, most recently on April 23. Washington told On3’s Chad Simmons in May that the Ducks “really have set the bar high” in his recruitment.

“Oregon is definitely recruiting me the hardest,” Washington said. “The way they recruit me shows me I am on top of their board. They have shown me and told me they want me to be there…

“At Oregon, it feels good with everyone. I have been there twice and it is comfortable for me there.”

Recruiting impact if Washington commits to Oregon

Washington is rated as the No. 113 overall prospect and the No. 13 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s rankings rate him higher as the No. 68 overall prospect and No. 9 defensive lineman. Both rankings have him as the No. 2 player in Arizona.

If Washington commits to Oregon, he would the Ducks’ second defensive line pledge for their 2023 recruiting class alongside Layton (Utah) Layton Christian Academy three-star Tevita Pome’e. Oregon’s class is currently No. 13 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and contains one five-star, six four-stars and four three-stars. The group is led by Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King Jr. five-star quarterback Dante Moore, the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus.

A’mauri Washington On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the scouting summary for A’mauri Washington from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power:

“Big-bodied interior defender that blows up plays consistently up the middle with burst and violence. Totaled 13 tackles and six sacks last season at defensive tackle. Can get vertical in a hurry and has the foot speed and balance to run to the football. Plays low to the ground and has loose hips to gain leverage consistently. Does not look to have great overall height and length, but will be disruptive at the next level along the interior as long as he can maintain his weight and get stronger. Plays for one of the top high school programs in the western United States.”
