Oregon DL Brandon Dorlus declares for 2024 NFL Draft

Oregon defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday afternoon. He announced the move in a lengthy post on his Twitter page.

“I am writing this to inform everyone on the blessing of being invited to participate in the NFL Combine, a significant opportunity for me as I transition to the next phase of my football career. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the University of Oregon and all the coaches who have been instrumental in shaping my journey as a student-athlete at Oregon,” Dorlus wrote.

He wrote numerous other paragraphs thanking the different people that have contributed to his football career over the years. And then to close, he thanked the University of Oregon as he begins his professional journey.

“Once again, I extend my sincerest appreciation to the University of Oregon and the coaching staff for their support and belief in me. I am proud to have been a part of the Oregon football program and will carry the lessons and memories with me as I pursue my aspirations at the professional level.”

“Thank you for everything.”

Dorlus racked up five sacks last season for the Ducks and 12 total sacks in the last five years. Coming out of Deerfield Beach High School (Deerfield Beach, Florida), he was ranked as the No. 896 prospect in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2019 cycle.

Dorlus declares, More on the 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
