DaSaahn Brame is one of the top tight ends in the nation, coming out of Derby (Kan.) High. He’s got the offers to prove it, too.

Over 30 Power Five programs — including the likes of Alabama, Miami and Michigan — have offered the 6-foot-6, 225-pounder. Last month, he named his top eight schools as he began narrowing down his recruitment.

Among those still in the mix for Brame, Oregon is considered one of the favorites. On Monday morning, Ducks head coach Dan Lanning made his way to the Sunflower State to visit Brame at his school alongside TEs coach Drew Mehringer and offensive coordinator Will Stein.

Brame has already made his way out to Eugene twice and has now set a return visit for Feb. 3. He also told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month that he also plans to make an official visit to Oregon in the summer.

“I love the staff at Oregon,” Brame told On3. “The people there is what keeps me going back. It is a cool place with good people. It is beautiful, I like the campus and the vibe is cool.”

“I like Coach Mehringer a lot. I like his personality, he coaches his guys up and he is a developmental coach. Coach Mehringer will coach his guys, he will play freshmen and we have a strong relationship.”

Other programs in the mix for Brame

The competition is stiff for Brame. Other finalists for his pledge as of Jan. 22 are Tennessee, Alabama Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Kansas State.

Of those schools, K-State and Oklahoma have had him on campus the most. The in-state Wildcats currently have the lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He’s also a legacy recruit for Chris Klieman, as both of Brame’s parents were athletes during their time in Manhattan.

“I have been there 4-5 times and have made the most visits there. My parents went there and played sports there, so I grew up a fan. They have Avery Johnson, and he is a dude,” Brame said of K-State.

As for the Sooners, relationships have Brent Venables and the OU staff in a solid position to have a hat on the table when Brame announces his decision.

“I have visited Oklahoma 3-4 times, and Coach Joe Jon Finley is one of the best,” Brame said. “I like his personality and he is a great dude. Coach Venables recruited my dad too when he was at K-State, and I think the Oklahoma program is on the rise with him.”

Brame is the No. 113 overall prospect and No. 4 TE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Kansas.
