Oregon Win

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Tez Johnson got his first touchdown catch as a Duck in their thrilling 38-30 road victory over Texas Tech in Week 2. In his last two years at Troy, before transferring to Oregon in the offseason, Johnson caught eight total touchdowns.

So, he isn’t new to scoring in the slightest. Still, with this being his first in a Ducks uniform, there was a little oomph to it for Johnson, as he revealed on Tuesday.

“It was a dream. But I know there’s many more to come. Just gotta keep working at practice. Time will tell,” said Johnson.

Scoring a touchdown is always nice, but adding multiple to the stat sheet would be even better; so, Johnson has his heart set on hauling in another touchdown. And he foresees his next touchdown coming in Week 3 against Hawaii at Oregon’s home — Autzen Stadium.

“For sure. Autzen, that’s the one I really want, to score in Autzen with the fans. I think that’ll come this Saturday. I think I’m going to get one this Saturday.”

On the year, Johnson has recorded seven catches for 78 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. Despite the plethora of pass-catching weapons quarterback Bo Nix and Oregon have at their disposal, Johnson could find himself fulfilling that prediction against the Rainbow Warriors.

Oregon escapes near upset from Texas Tech

The Ducks survived their trip to Lubbock, TX, edging out the upset-minded Texas Tech Red Raiders for the Week 2 win. While it was a game highlighted by two programs known for their offensive firepower going head to head, it was actually the Ducks’ defense that sealed the game for them late.

Thanks to back-to-back interceptions by Oregon, they’re off to a 2-0 start following their 38-30 victory on Saturday night.

And what did Oregon do defensively to earn the victory? Back-to-back interceptions in the final minute, with the first one a pick-6 by Jeffrey Bassa to put Oregon up eight with less than a minute to play in the game. The second interception came with zeros on the clock as senior defensive back Bryan Addison picked off Red Raiders quarterback Tyler Shough in the end zone to seal the game.

Oregon was down late to Texas Tech but was able to score 20 points in the fourth quarter to mount a comeback and pick up the victory, remaining undefeated on the season.
