Dana Altman swooped in and got his man on Wednesday as four-star guard Vyctorius Miller committed to the Oregon Ducks. Miller’s commitment comes on top of a three-man 2023 class that finished third in the 2023 On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. That class had four-star forward Kwame Evans, four-star wing Mookie Cook, and four-star point guard Jackson Shelstad.

Let’s discuss what Vyctorius Miller brings to Oregon.

Who is Vyctorius Miller?

Vyctorius Miller is the No. 48 player in the 2024 On3 150 and the No. 11 shooting guard in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. Miller chose the Dukes over a final group that also included schools like LSU and Southern California.

Miller played with the West Coast Elite program on the Under Armour Next Circuit. He averaged 17.3 points and shot 36.6 percent from three during the summer.

“I’ve always been a point guard at heart, and I think I’ve shown that this summer,” Miller told On3. “I like passing, I like getting buckets, and I like playing defense; I like showing I can do it all.”

What does he bring to Oregon?

Vyctorius Miller is comfortable on or off the ball. When asked to be a primary scorer, he is a capable shooter who can attack gaps in the defense to find open lanes to the basket. He plays with solid balance and a good pace.

He can also get a team into their sets. While not a true, dynamic type of point guard, he is a comfortable secondary ball handler, able to get the ball where it needs to go.

Miller is a solid athlete, not super bursty, but he is fluid. His skill set and confidence get him into production. His size and instincts allow him to have an upside on defense. He can lack consistent focus at times on defense, but he has some upside on that end.

Offensively, he is most comfortable playing alongside other talent. He is an excellent connecting piece, able to fill in the gaps and take on the role the coach needs at the time. Miller has found a lot of success, laying at high levels of basketball.

Miller talks Oregon

I really liked the coaching staff. I called Mookie (Cook), and we talked about it. He loves it up there, so I’m looking forward to going back. The facilities were crazy up there. I mean, they’re all Nike; all that was crazy.

“Going back up there, I want to see how all the players interact. I want to see how the coaches coach and interact with all the players. I’d like to see how they work out and all that. They talk with my dad like every day and check in with the family. We’ve really grown our relationship since the visit, for sure.”

“It’s been a great experience getting to know them. We text often, he checks up on me a lot. Mookie is working on me, he probably won’t be there when I get there, but he’s still trying to get me to go there.”
