Tampa Gaither three-star cornerback Andrew Brinson has decommitted from Oregon State.

He was pledged to the Beavers since June 17, but backed off following the news of head coach Jonathan Smith leaving Corvallis to head to Michigan State.

“I want to say thank you to Oregon State, the coaches, the players, and all the fans. It was a pleasure of being a part of Oregon State and all the time I spent up there. But due to circumstances I have to announce I am decommitting and will be reopening my recruitment up, thank you to everyone who has helped me through this. God has a plan,” Brinson wrote.

Brinson is the No. 960 overall prospect and No. 96 corner in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 132 player in Florida.

He does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Beavers’ 2024 class outside of Top 60 nationally

With Brinson now decommitted, Oregon State’s 2024 class consists of just 14 commits and ranks 61st in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. The class is without a blue-chip commit as of Nov. 25.

Headlining the class is Graham (Wash.) Kapowsin three-star wide receiver Malachi Durant, the No. 608 recruit and No. 98 wideout in the cycle. Other top-1000 recruits in the fold include: Honolulu St. Louis three-star offensive tackle Rustin Young, Kelso (Wash.) three-star offensive tackle Payton Stewart and Andover (N.H.) Proctor Academy three-star CB Exodus Ayers.

The strong spot in Oregon State’s class is in the trenches. The pledge list features five offensive linemen, all of whom are among the eight highest-ranked prospects in the class. Behind Young and Stewart are a trio of three-star interior O-linemen: Medford (Ore.) North’s Terrell Kim, Sumner (Wash.) High’s Dylan Sikorski and Boise (Idaho) Bishop Kelly’s Rakeem Johnson.

Other commits for the Beavers include: Prineville (Ore.) Crook County three-star WR Eddie Freauff, San Jose Homestead three-star tight end Wyatt Hook, Honolulu Punahou three-star EDGE Kekai Burnett and Portland Central Catholic three-star linebacker Dexter Foster.
