Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial four-star running back Corey Smith is set to announce his college decision in four days. One school has been the favorite for Smith for some time now and their odds were boosted again Monday morning.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) Penn State has an overwhelming lead to land Smith’s commitment following an expert pick from BWI’s Ryan Snyder. The Nittany Lions sit with a 98% chance to land Smith’s commitment.

Snyder put in his pick with a confidence level of 80%.

Smith has visited Happy Valley twice this spring first visiting on March 24 and returning a few weeks later on April 15 for the spring game.

“Today was a great day,” Smith told On3 following the latest visit. “Great vibes, great team, great atmosphere all-around, specifically the players. They showed competitiveness during the spring game which was very entertaining.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder is the No. 221 overall prospect and No. 18 running back in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Wisconsin.

Penn State also has a unique advantage in Smith’s recruitment as they already hold a commitment from his teammate  four-star interior offensive lineman Donovan Harbour on April 18. Harbour picked the Nittany Lions over Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Penn State dominating in Wisconsin

Landing Smith’s commitment would just be another win in Wisconsin for the Nittany Lions as they’ve continued to stamp their flag in the state’s recruiting scene.

On top of landing Harbour, the state’s No. 2 prospect, Penn State landed a commitment from the state’s No. 4 prospect Monday morning in four-star offensive tackle Garrett Sexton.

Sexton’s commitment was the 11th of the 2024 cycle for the Nittany Lions who now have the No. 10 class in the country and the No. 3 class in the Big Ten. They’re ahead of where they were during the 2023 cycle where they finished No. 14 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten.

Penn State’s also done well recruiting in-state to build another half of its class.

They hold commitments from the state’s No. 1 prospect in four-star athlete Quinton Martin as well as four-star interior offensive lineman Cooper Cousins (No. 3), three-star linebacker Anthony Speca (No. 9) and three-star athlete Caleb Brewer (No. 15).
