A former Penn State guard and the Nittany Lions leading scorer in 2023-24 is off to the transfer portal. Kanye Clary has entered the portal, On3 has learned.

Clary was dismissed from the Penn State team earlier this season. He was leading the Nittany Lions in scoring at the time he was let go.

Kanye Clary spent two seasons at Penn State. He averaged 16.7 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game over 23 games this season.

Penn State coach Mike Rhoades announced on Feb. 19 that Clary was “no longer with the team.”

“Kanye is no longer with the team. Coach’s decision. We’re going to keep moving forward on the guys we got, the task at hand,” Rhoades said. “It came to a point where we’re at that I made the decision as the head coach to move on. I’ll leave it at that.”

Kanye Clary struggled with injuries at times this past season. He managed only 16 total points over the final three games of his Penn State career. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Clary signed with Penn State as a three-star recruit and the No. 201 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

The Virginia native played in all 32 games as a true freshman in 2022-23, averaging 3.7 points per game.

Clary averaged 25.5 points, 7.2 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game during senior season of high school.

Penn State center Favour Aire enters the transfer portal

Penn State had an additional player enter the transfer portal on Monday in center Favour Aire.

Aire just finished his only season with the Nittany Lions as a sophomore this year. It came after he spent his freshman year with Miami last season.

Aire has appeared in 26 total games between the two schools with 14 in Coral Gables and 12 in University Park. In under four minutes a game in his two-year collegiate career, he is averaging 0.6 points and 0.8 rebounds.

Aire played high school basketball at Bishop McNamara in Maryland where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 107 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as the No. 15 center in the class and the No. 4 player out of his state.
