College coaches are once again out on the recruiting trail as the calendar rolls into December, and Penn State head coach James Franklin was on the road to see the top prospect in Penn State’s 2024 recruiting class.

Franklin, tight ends coach Ty Howle, defensive assistant Stacy Collins and defensive line coach Deion Barnes were out to see Westford (Mass.) Cheshire Academy four-star tight end Luke Reynolds.

Reynolds is the nation’s No. 47 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 3 tight end and top recruit from Massachusetts.

Reynolds committed to the Nittany Lions on March 25.

“Coach does a great job and has done a great job with the program,” Reynolds told BWI. “He’s an honest coach that is all-in for his players to succeed. I enjoyed hearing him speak throughout the day because he’s a knowledgeable person.”

Reynolds currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $157,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

He is the top recruit in a Penn State recruiting class that ranks No. 14 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Reynolds is joined by 14 additional blue-chip prospects out of 25 total commits. Inside the top 150 are Belle Vernon (Pa.) four-star athlete Quinton Martin, Erie (Pa.) McDowell four-star interior offensive lineman Cooper Cousins, Brookline (Mass.) Dexter four-star athlete Liam Andrews, Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy four-star quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer and Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star cornerback Jon Mitchell.
