Penn State LB Curtis Jacobs declares for 2024 NFL Draft

Penn State star linebacker Curtis Jacobs officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, he announced on his Twitter page on Friday evening.

“I want to start by thanking my family and all who have supported me through this long journey. I’ve dedicated my life to this game, and the consistent love and support from you is what fuels me every day as I continue. Thank you to my Penn State family, coaches, players, and fans. My time here has been very special and I will never forget it. I gave everything I had on the field for my brothers and I have made relationships that will last a lifetime. I am truly thankful for the opportunity and experience,” he wrote on Friday evening.

“With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft. I am excited to be embarking on this new opportunity and fulfilling a lifelong dream. There is still unfinished business for this season. I am excited to compete with my brothers one last time in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. We Are!! Curtis Jacobs.”

Jacobs tallied 169 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks in his four seasons with the Nittany Lions.

In the post, Jacobs also let fans know that he’ll be playing in the upcoming Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. Ole Miss and Penn State are set to face off on Saturday, December 30th. That one will be televised on ESPN and is set to begin at noon EST.

In 2022, Jacobs racked up 52 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, two pass breakups, and an interception returned for a touchdown. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors from the league’s coaches and media following the season.

His freshman season (2021), he also earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors from the media, after he tallied 61 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, and an interception.

More on the 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
