Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy 2024 quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer is set to take his first spin around the camp circuit as a Penn State commit.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound will take part in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles this week. Grunkemeyer is ready to compete.

He also feels he has an opportunity to make a splash in the event.

“I’m super excited about it and I’ve been looking forward to it since I got the invite,” Grunkemeyer said. “I’m excited to go compete against the best guys in the country and show what I can do and see how I stack up.”

Grunkemeyer committed to Penn State back on May 20. Grunkemeyer is proud to carry the Penn State flag in Los Angeles this week.

“It’s going to be cool to go represent Penn State at that showcase,” Grunkemeyer said.

Ethan Grunkemeyer ready to recruit

Grunkemeyer is fully prepared to act on behalf of the Nittany Lions on the recruiting end throughout the week.

“There are some guys that I’m going to have to do a little bit of recruiting on and get in the door on them and put Penn State in their mind,” Grunkemeyer said. “I can’t wait to go out and show the Penn State fan base kind of what they’re getting in a quarterback.”

Grunkemeyer has his sights set on multiple prospects. He doesn’t know who exactly will be there. Grunkemeyer has his game plan.

“I kind of have to find the guys that are there and express the interest Penn State has in them,” Grunkemeyer said. “I’d love to throw the ball to them and compete against the whether they’re on the offensive side or defensive side of the ball. Me and Luke Reynolds are both going to be there. We’re definitely going to find some guys there and try and Penn State in the door with their interest level.”

Grunkemeyer also has hit the pitch for Penn State prepped.

“I think Penn State is a great place for a lot of them, not only football-wise but academically,” Grunkemeyer said. “The relationship I built with coach (James) Franklin is great. It is a very genuine place and a great place overall.”

Penn State’s quarterback of the future?

Grunkemeyer saw Penn State as an opportunity to be successful. He trains with current Nittany Lions’ quarterback Drew Allar. Grunkemeyer is well aware of Allar’s skill set. He also feels that once he reaches college Allar will have a wealth of knowledge to share.

Grunkemeyer saw that as a perfect setup for his future in Happy Valley.

“I have a pretty good connection with him already and it’s going to be awesome to learn under a guy that has a ton of talent and game experience when I step in the door,” Grunkemeyer said. “I’m excited to learn under him and keep growing.”
