Houston (Texas) PSAT Academy center Trent Burns is the No. 118 overall player in the 2024 On3 150 Player Rankings. The 7-foot-2, 210-pound three-star big man has seen his recruitment take off in recent months, securing offers from Purdue, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri, Stanford, Penn State, Ohio State, Xavier, and more.

The rising senior has taken official visits to Purdue and Rice, whereas Texas A&M hosted him in an unofficial capacity.

It’s no secret that the Purdue Boilermakers have seen tremendous success with their bigs, most recently with Zach Edey, the 2022-23 AP Player of the Year.

Burns broke down his recent trip to West Lafayette.

“It was great. They like their big men a lot. They like to develop them and play through them. I really liked it and the coaches were really cool. (Purdue) is like a family. I was with the players a lot and they’re all really cool with each other. They’re always together.”

While he might draw comparisons to Zach Edey because of his height, Burns is different in the fact that he can stretch the floor and consistently knock down the catch-and-shoot three-pointer.

Burns also tripped to Rice, a program located in his backyard.

“Their coaches have been on me since day one,” he said of the Owls. “They were one of the first schools to ever talk to me. They’ve always believed in me so I had to go check it out.”

The big man is also considering possible trips to Ohio State, Penn State, Missouri, and Nebraska

Trent Burns isn’t overly in a rush to make a commitment, but would like to make a decision sooner rather than later.

“I don’t want to wait too long. I want to get it done,” he says.
