Indianapolis (Ind.) North Central three-star wide receiver TJ McWilliams announced his decommitment from Purdue on Sunday night. He was previously pledged to the Boilermakers since June 26.

McWilliams is the No. 1,289 overall prospect and No. 195 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 17 player in Indiana.

“I would like to thank the entire @BoilerFootball, @Coach_Walters , Coach @Coach_JM_Jonard , @CoachNatePurdue, the Purdue Administration, and BolierNation fans, I have explored additional options and have decided to decommit,” McWilliams wrote in a statement published to social media.

The Boilermakers’ 2023 recruiting class now contains 12 commitments. It ranks No. 59 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 13 in the Big Ten.

Two wideouts are still pledged to Purdue: Lagrange (Ohio) Keystone three-star Ryne Shackelford and Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral three-star Jaron Tibbs. Meanwhile, multiple prospects have backed off their pledges to the Boilermakers since Jeff Brohm departed for Louisville. They include McWilliams, Geismar (La.) Dutchtown three-star interior offensive lineman Ethan Fields, Louisville (Ky.) St. Xavier three-star EDGE Micah Carter and Henderson (Ky.) Henderson County three-star defensive lineman Saadiq Clements.

McWilliams has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
