4-star Keanu Dawes commits to Rice
Houston (Texas) Stratford four-star recruit Keanu Dawes tells On3 he’s committed to Rice.
Dawes, a 6-foot-8 class of 2023 power forward, also received offers from Oklahoma State, Texas, Utah, Texas A&M, BYU, and others.
He is the first addition to Rice’s 2023 recruiting class.
Dawes is the No. 112 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 22 power forward and the No. 9 player in the state of Texas.

“I chose Rice because I feel like they are the ones who can help develop me and get me to the NBA more than anyone else; especially by coming in and playing big minutes,” Dawes said to On3.

“They are getting a very versatile player. I can do a lot of things on offense and defense, which will help win games,” he says.
Dawes has a message for Rice fans.
“Be ready! Me and the whole basketball program are going to do some things that have never been done before at Rice!”
