Murrieta (Calif.) Valley four-star quarterback Bear Bachmeier has committed to Stanford.

He chose the Cardinal while also holding offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Oregon and Alabama.

Bachmeier is the No. 168 overall prospect and No. 12 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 17 player in California.

Bachmeier is the younger brother of former Boise State and Louisiana Tech QB, Hank Bachmeier. His other older brother, Tiger, is a wide receiver for the Cardinal.

As a junior for Murrieta Valley, Bear Bachmeier threw for 2,613 yards and 21 touchdowns while throwing just eight interceptions. He also ran for 631 yards and seven scores. Across three seasons, he has thrown for over 5,550 yards and 47 TDs while running for an additional 1,285 yards and 25 TDs.

Bachmeier has a career completion percentage of .690 and has averaged over 230 passing yards per game. He is the fourth commit in Stanford’s 2025 recruiting class.

Stanford adds standout commit to 2025 class

Bachmeier now headlines the Cardinal’s class, which ranks No. 23 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The gunslinger is the lone blue-chipper in the mix for head coach Troy Taylor.

Slinger (Wash.) three-star interior offensive lineman Charlie Hoitink, Oakland Fremont three-star offensive tackle Siosiua Vete and Grand Rapids (Mich.) Forest Hills Central linebacker Maxwell Richardson round out the quartet of pledges.

In the 2024 cycle, Stanford has signed 23 prospects, highlighted by Toronto native and Avon (Conn.) Old Farms four-star defensive lineman Benedict Umeh. He is the one of two top-300 signees in the class, alongside Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star quarterback Elijah Brown.

Going to Stanford, I remembered that it was my dream school and where I’ve wanted to go forever,” Umeh told On3 upon his commitment. “My family loves it, I have a bunch of family in Cali and my mom was tearing up the whole time because she loved it. It was an easy decision to make.”

“The program right now fits what I want,” he added. “I’m going to get a chance to get developed to the highest level and a chance to make an impact as soon as I get there and win games. With a new coaching staff and the way things are going, I believe that once I get there we’ll be on an upward trend.”
