Former TCU quarterback and Alamo Bowl hero Bram Kohlhausen is in the ICU after sustaining “serious injuries,” according to his former head coach Gary Patterson.

“Just wanted all Frogs to keep Bram Kolhausen in your prayers tonight! He suffered serious injuries and is ICU in San Antonio,” Patterson wrote on Twitter. “He will need all your help and prayers!”

Kohlhausen is best known for his postseason heroics during the 2016 Alamo Bowl against Oregon. After TCU trailed 31-0 at halftime, the former walk-on and fifth-year senior went on to finish the game with 352 passing yards and two touchdowns en route to leading TCU to its infamous comeback and winning the game 47-41.

He would eventually cash in one of his two touchdowns on the ground during the third overtime, which served as the game-winning score to give the Horned Frogs the lead for the first time. The magical game would be his first and only start of Kohlhausen’s Horned Frogs career, but that wasn’t the only time he’d play hero for TCU throughout his career.

Before TCU, Kohlhausen attended Houston where he appeared in three games during his redshirt freshman season. After two years with the Cougars, he opted to transfer to the JUCO ranks and play for L.A. Harbor College.

After arriving on campus in 2014, Kohlhausen made his TCU debut against Texas Tech where he completed one pass for five yards. He saw action in three games after that against Kansas State, Iowa State and Ole Miss, the latter of which saw him complete 4-of-5 passing for 28 yards against the Rebels in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

Kohlhausen went on to throw the first touchdown of his career against Stephen F. Austin the following season. After star QB Trevone Boykin sustained an injury, Kohlhausen completed 13-of-19 passes for 112 yards against Kansas and went on to help nearly knock off Oklahoma 30-29 after scoring on three-straight fourth-quarter drives. He completed 5-of-11 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns after entering the game facing a 30-13 deficit. In 12 career games, Kohlhausen threw for 763 yards on 62-of-97 passing with five touchdown passes.

Football fans across the country will be hoping to see another major comeback from Kohlhausen one more time — this time not in football, but in life. Prayers up to a man that gave college football an all-time classic, one that TCU fans will certainly never forget.
