TCU faithful may be reeling from their disappointing national title loss, but quarterback Max Duggan and linebacker Dee Winters are providing a boost to morale.

Speaking with the media after the loss to Georgia, the duo answered how the Horned Frogs will respond to the tough end to their season.

“It was just something that we really haven’t faced,” started Winters. “… Always have that next play mentality. Come out. Just compete. Go from there.”

Continuing, the TCU signal caller explained how if the Horned Frogs are ever on the stage again, they’d use their experience and moxie to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.

“When stuff like that happens, you’ve got to go back to your roots. Go back to your values. The culture that we set,” stated Duggan. “It was frustrating. Haven’t been in a situation like that. But you’ve got to dig yourself out of a hole. Got to believe.

“I know going forward, this program is going to get on this stage again, and if we’re ever in a situation like that I know we’re going to be able to get out of it. Have some success, and I’m pretty positive in that.”

Moving forward, nobody should count out the Horned Frogs again. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how TCU responds to the newfound target on their back.

Max Duggan reveals what he will remember from TCU’s run

Moreover, Max Duggan didn’t have his best game against Georgia in the national title game on Monday, but the TCU quarterback wrote himself into Horned Frogs history throughout 2022.

After the tough way to end a phenomenal season, Duggan spoke with the media, revealing what he’ll remember most from TCU’s run to the College Football Playoff.

“I think that’s the best thing about being a part of a football team, especially this one. Long past this time, we’re probably not going to remember this wins and losses, or stuff like that. But we’re going to remember the men in that locker room” stated Duggan. “The guys that we grew up with that we learned more about. When stuff got tough, and things kind of got hard, you saw what kind of men we’ve got in our locker room, that continued to fight. Believe. Such a fun group to work with. It’s the little stuff that you’re going to remember about this season.

“Probably less about the wins and loss but you know what, what great men we’ve got.”

A poignant and mature answer from Duggan, who was still feeling the sting of a demoralizing loss.

While Duggan only passed for 152 yards and two interceptions against the Bulldogs, his numbers throughout the 2022 season were stuff of legends. He amassed 32 passing touchdowns and 3,698 passing yards, along with 423 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns, all after not being named the starting quarterback to begin the season.

Alas, Duggan’s story will be one of perseverance, as many didn’t believe in him at the beginning of the season, and it took a long time for a lot of people to come around.

He’ll have a similar challenge at the NFL level, but TCU fans know betting against Max Duggan isn’t a bet worth taking.
